A Sense of Belonging: E’s Story on The Everyday Advocate
This month on The Everyday Advocate, we had the deep honor of sitting down with one of our long-time mentees, “E,” who bravely shared her journey through healing, trust, and hope.
Reflecting on her early experiences, E shared:
“Before I had a mentor… I felt like nobody understood me. I was 16 and having been trafficked and stuff, I felt shame around my life. I felt ashamed. And then once I started to get into the program, it was like it gave me a sense of belonging… like, OK, all these people are actually here for me. And it did help me be able to trust people more.”
E’s words are a powerful reminder of why we do this work. Giving survivors a sense of belonging is one of the greatest impacts we hope to make—and it’s incredible to witness what grows from that foundation.
This month, E is graduating. She has a clear path forward, career goals, and the determination to care for herself and her daughter. We couldn’t be more proud.
