Love. Respect. Community.

The Allies Mentorship Program was created to purposefully match survivors desiring support with a mentor.

A mentor builds a relationship based on trust and acceptance with their mentee, which provides a foundation for positive mental, social, emotional, and physical growth. In the Allies Mentorship Program, youth survivors of trafficking and sexual exploitation will gain an authentic and unwavering relationship as they work on socialization and academic or career skills, receive help, share a meal, and have fun!

Ultimately, mentors will walk alongside survivors through the hills and valleys of life agenda free while expressing care, challenging growth, providing support, sharing power, and expanding possibilities.

*Allies mentorship staff have been trained by the Christian Association of Youth Mentorship. This training is evidence-based and aligns with MENTOR’s “Elements of Effective Practice 4th Edition” and utilizes the Search Institute’s Developmental Relationships Framework. “Having a mentor has been really nice. She’s a good person to talk to, and she’s really understanding. A lot of times she’ll try to relate if I’m feeling bad about something. It’s fun hanging out with her. Overall, I just like her personality, and I like having her as my mentor because it feels like a friendship more than an authority type of figure.”

“The Allies Mentorship Program has taught me patience. I used to want things immediately; instant gratification. But I have learned that the things worth having are also worth the wait.”

“I noticed after the first couple of times of me meeting with my mentor that this was nothing like a meeting with a therapist or talking to a DCS caseworker. It was almost like I had a friend but a friend that I knew would always encourage me to make the right decisions. I grew a really close bond with my mentor. We would go out for breakfast. Go to the park. Me and my mentor actually colored this canvas. It was nice having someone to talk to that actually made me feel a lot normal especially being a kid in the system. After a while of meeting with my mentor. It’s almost like she became family to me and I became family to her.”

“I recently got to hangout with my mentee. We made these crafts together & just got to know each other. Being a mentor allows these young women to have someone in their corner who isn’t REQUIRED to be there. It helps them build trust again. It gives them a friend to walk beside them while they navigate life after.”

“I started with Allies because my heart has always been driven to help stop human trafficking. Everyone warns you during training that you will learn more than you will teach. I am no exception. In my short time I have learned so much about relationships and overall trauma in the world. My Mentee and I have been able to build a bond that I see living on through all stages of life.”

“The Allies program has been such a learning experience for myself as well as my mentee. Coming from very different backgrounds and experiences we are still able to share and connect on many different levels. I have no doubt our friendship will continue for years to come!”
